everyone here tonight guy Tipton County 88 Fair with a knife play stand for pledge of allegiance United States of America Xfinity Center in Brookfield if not what happened I passed the consent agenda with them special card check if I mix Bacardi random number saying hi we did a few of our teachers report injured last night and when I am going to do I'm going to be a few people that couldn't come tonight I'm going to read off their names first Allen Willie from Brighton Middle School Catherine Newman from Crestview Elementary School Leah Wiley from Crestview Elementary School and Stephanie weekly from Munford Elementary School and at this time I will call up those teachers that are here tonight to present a certificate to when I call your name if you would come up please it's Heather Daniel from CI double A Miss Jamison Pulliam from TIAA super good hair Ashley White Shayla Hill mr. Banda children from Austin that's all I have congratulations. Thank you. call Amanda Ross stair lift You do know there's a few more minutes. the first thing I want to do tonight we have some students and they are going to talk to you a little bit experience find the name is Haley and Haley hi my name is Daniel Aragon from Mumford High School in Virginia my name is Lucas Tyler. Junior from Covington High School I want to go first so it was students one male and one female from each High School in the state you go and it went up there and the Tennessee School Board Association gave us four topics to debate in discussing our own separate groups for topics for students with perfect attendance at Sam's is your car at the fence switching from a normal school year-round school schedule and the grading scale going from the skeleton right now you two of us had you had the first opportunity I was nominated by my group to be speaker in the voice of each pair of eyes opinion to go up on stage at the apartments in debate in front of everybody that was attending and I had to be for letting students with discussing our groups we found that students with Perfect Image being sent from Sam's for a plan would seem like a bad thing to have and all so we wouldn't we talked about if they did get something sent up some kids with you got to that ranch because they will come to school but they really wouldn't mind in the classroom so you just be giving students at Tuscan don't try and class today office exam our group or groups were against adjusting to a 10 point traditional grading scale and the reasons we gave it a seven-point grading scale challenges students more and we decided we said that it was better to help students be successful with don't want to lower the standard but we want to help students reach the standard one fell for it be able to relax and the chance to be able to get the great desert well we did like a board meeting in our group and we talked about making vaping expelled from school they would have to take a manual cars to indicate them more on why vaping is not good for the body and brain Course Grand Theft Auto V all of the topics that were given when they were voted on by the all failed so I kind of think but unfortunately the legislature is taking that up this year to change grading scale and their rationale for the ones who wanted to change it for the people more people would be eligible for a scholarship so I think if they wanted dad to like 92 Jordan know if you're aware that and you guys can stay or go and they are going to talk to you for a few minutes about industry certification miss him and I are fortunate to teach a subject that do you have industry Susan has most of you know that is the big topic of conversation is how many ways that we can have our students prepare to enter the workforce whether they're going to secondary or not unfortunately the current situation are safe is not all industry certifications for making the states list and that is a topic of conversation currently on the state level is adjusting the live and working towards increasing the number of Industry certifications that qualify for the school system to be recognized by the industry certifications you have in front of you on two years ago start year in it the first year we did it and a class that was him and I team talk of Food Science class that was new for us and this is an ICU big program is an online program so when the student is left they would have a certification from the oven and it's a food safety certification so from there how they are trying to Pilot more programs in the state of Tennessee and where like to be a pilot that and principles back of business which is focused on our Floral Design i7 from the Benz School of Floral Design they have a principles of Floral Design certificate last year we had 17 students obtained and then we can continue to food science class and again trying to tread into new territory I would miss Hammond veterinary science program we had once they completed the veterinary medicine industry certification snow this year that's unlimited actually I wrote that out in November and we are the first school to my knowledge in the country to do that industry certification with them so we'll keep trying to evolve an admin Works to that so if you hear us being a Nashville campaigning to include things these are wonderful certifications but unfortunately it doesn't give mr. comes any credit so how wonderful things were going to Tipton County because they're not on the first date list the ones that are on the proofs I have to be late to post-secondary credit and depending on what institution you have on whether that's linked to the post secondary or not but Ducks Unlimited for example those students that go to work for them may neighbor a post-secondary institutions doesn't post secondary credit is not I'd like needed for them or something that they feel is necessary at this time so they the icv company came and did a case study and printed pressures that we thought we would never hand out to anyone but someone has to serve stations brochure we've been working then do things like this this is the year that were in no this is part of the Strategic pricing is it again I have a separate app I was very fortunate to serve on the governor's agricultural education youth participation task force this year and Industry certifications was a big feet that were trying to because we feel like if we can change that in the agriculture field and it's going to spill over into the other CT organizations because we kind of pushing that effort right now so when this all started years ago we can't have that many in the state of Tennessee that were in agriculture other than pesticides and the people when were hunting for what to put on the list they struggle with that so in our state we developed a Horticulture science an animal science Industry certification from the state not something that was coming from the University's or from industry we did it within the Department of Education so we're still trying to promote that in encouraged to establish that is a certain page the problem being a beef cattle producer in East Tennessee doesn't know what that industry certification means however elanco a company that they purchase Pharmaceuticals from at least now tells them that that child. administer medication in a Revival employee for them on their farm so when it got tied to accountability in the state is when they locked the list and there was no more adding things to the list so our feet right now is trying to get the list you got about five different agencies at Nashville that are all linked to this TV rslinx he's just a lot of in the workforce development board because for example and you can relate to agriculture industry it's all based on your amount of Highway high-skill high-demand occupations in your community an agriculture for example that is out into 16 different areas so if you look at it on the labor workforce data Landscaping is not a viable industry in our community our cattle safer. because they're spread so for example all of the florist in the state are most of them are now being located within a retail grocery store so they fall under their labor data in retail Grocery and not in that industry landscape they're linking under sole proprietorship business because they own their own business and they're not identify it's just it's a word game balance that we have going on some states are tackling the issue by developing additional ways to link that high demand high-wage occupations so we can aggregate those words together or does occupations together inside of Florida that when we were on this committee were trying to figure out how different states are doing in the state of Arkansas for a hundred different agriculture industry certifications on Thursday twist and in Tennessee with 7 from snot so we're trying to do it again this is probably not what I should say but it is pushing effort behind this was I needed something to go with me to Nashville and there's the listening cuz I took the sign and these students that don't count and why do they not count why is what they did not worthy of recognition or acknowledgement and until you put a face with a name and understand what they're doing you can't get someone's attention conversation so that led to this so how to get the word out to the students Haitian yes it is increasing they're going to tell me if I'm but a child has different things to classify whether they're doing wrong or 2109 CT listing and Industry certifications unfortunately my allergies tell you this one of my presentation can you show up here tonight and you had to bring some form of identification you can bring your passport you can bring your birth certificate or you can bring your drivers license if you have your passport just really negated the driver's license if I'm dual enrollment I'm 21 on the act or I can have an industry certification is on the state approved list it's linked to post-secondary if it's linked to post-secondary I either got a 21 on the act or I've already gotten so we just need did the industry certification but on paper to the public there's a list of Industry certifications this sounds great we're behind the governor's initiative of Let's Make Career and Technical State again we need those jobs we need HVAC employees but when you get to the nitty-gritty of How It's actually being conducted we've eliminated those people we were back to just the top of the list so now to answer your question kind of got on to the test there's a lot of their own the dual enrollment 21 act and they want those those who your students did that matter what you're doing they want to achieve and they were many industry certifications as they can get so we have those students that are gaining interest in the program to get more certifications but then we also have those that see it when they got the certificate we make the presentation and these people come to visit they realize it's something real something that they can get a job and the conversation about the job really becomes more to live to them when we were over to the point of here's your certification you can tell him and say that they're going to get some until I put it in their hand is really kind of pig tissue oil to them so when we're building resumes now as they're walking out the door seniors and we get to the point of do you have any certifications are very proud to go I do so mostly female students in 450 agriculture students 50 years ago when I started in this that was not the case but times change X evolving the we are Sprouts Alma strange things turned aside that we have to write was to increase the teaching of life skills and career exploration exploration College and Career options before high school so I 6th and 7th graders are currently taking career interest inventory and if you all remember from tesda back in November that you signed program of the you actually approved that they are 8th graders will be taking that career aptitude and we also have some additional trips to you and University of Memphis and then the last he is all of our 8th graders attended the pathways to possibilities career Expo the last week in Ripley and it was amazing we had almost there were almost like they are from FedEx to I think someone said that I think the employees were there to discuss the College and Career options with we're doing some great things with our Middle School students virtual reality goggles where they could have virtually stimulate I guess driving the bulldozer like that it was really interesting. 7-Eleven 11 set an annual event what's the first year but I think they anticipate repeating patch really baby we put a video on our Twitter feed of like we got one of those lineman to climb up and take a video of from top and if it was a mini kiss the feet that was Unreal they love you it was really great it's takes everything they're so different story for different times ik5 chose amplifier KLA 60 regular civilian Expeditionary Learning in perspective so do we have a motion to approve this I'll Bang Bang map of Maine tcat Dyersburg State and University of Memphis and YouTube okay I take care of arranging all day I didn't want to update you on the hiset program are adult education program is now six months old, Stacy. The coordinator been I wanted to share some good news we at for students that tested this week students received their High said one of them is missing, Terry and she is 76 years old so we are just so excited about six months. We have seven students that are achieved their High so we just really really excited about you as you know today has proven to be a challenge in our nation in in Tipton County West Tennessee as we discussed the coronavirus and Kolb and 19th from Methodist LeBonheur and they will share with you some of the steps that the different that we are taking the bar soap wanted to tell you right now that one of the first things we've done is a group of course we've mad we met a lot a lot of groups of mad and was coordinated school health I have a lot of pain fingers out there until lot of different agencies so I've been reading a lot doing a lot full in a lot of information yeah they're getting a lot of information on the first things we didn't want to get information out to parents so last week we did the first call out to parents and put information on our Tipton County Schools website and instead of writing a letter putting in kids hands to take home will you let call out referred parents to our website so they would know that anything new we got they can find it on the Tipton County Schools website we also decided that it would be if we had the coronavirus 20 but we also now have an icon Just for information under that might be coming down to us that it's directly put under brand new serious right there so parents all they would have to do is go to that part click on that anything you would be under that icon we've also just to let you know that we're doing a lot you know what they tell you wash your hands wash your hands we've done some reminders to students and parents and teachers about half making sure kids are washing their hands with ABM right now we're making sure are there soap filled in every bathroom that there are plenty of Portales they are cleaning extra every evening and we've been doing this ever since the flu outbreak came if we have schools that have a higher than what we expect at a pirate absentee rate so have been using what they call a missed type of cleaner that I can miss into a room and it disinfects everything in there and I think it only takes a few minutes to do each row that we've been using that there been real diligent and wiping down touchpoints your door knobs water fountains things like that but we know there's going to be a lot of touching because of the hand pan contact thank you cuz I got to where they're actually are right now our tenants rights are as normal as what we would have it anytime this time of year we have not seen increased as our rights are very good right now to let you also know we have posters that Tom has brought to us it will be putting in all the schools that we've already got some of them around but it's just general information about drones and Jen to keep from getting evidence also talks about common 19 virus itself and we also have a task force that will have our first meeting tomorrow that we'll talk specifically about what we do in the schools and in this community if we directions from the Department of Health or the state department and I'm going to let her tell you what information we have with her right now so I just won't say we all will know if we watched there are no cases right now to pick County we did doctor comes to call me and I did come to the education council meeting the other day and I just want to share a little information what I shared with them and that is again being diligent and doing all the things we need to do to wash your hands and and take care of all those things but the other piece of that I have tried to explain to them because I've gotten a lot of questions about is this political is this high is this crazy as we also reminds you know types of questions so there is a lot of concern from the CDC in from the people who are studying this virus that it is new we do not have all the answers to the bar so that makes people concern we don't know that will Wax and Wane like the flu come in the Fall leave in the spring we just don't know yet and because of that the other piece that I am hearing from all of my family members why stop all these event that's because it is unprecedented to stop the NBA and NHL and all these other March Madness it's just unbelievable but the concern is that if we don't stop gathering in large numbers that it will put such a strain on our healthcare system that we will not have the capacity to take care of all the patients who will come to the hospital it is for most people a mild respiratory illness with a fever and some in a respiratory don't forget most people will recover it home treating their symptoms and just be smart and using common sense but for those people who are in the target areas those are over 65 have chronic conditions immunocompromised those people we are most concerned about and we certainly want to do everything we can at our in our individual lives to to make Health Care available for those people who might truly need hospitalization if you seen any of the news on TV some of it and so we just want to be really careful that we're not we're not in a panic mode what we're doing it school is the same thing we always do if a child presents with a fever and please come get your child to have a fever going over symptoms within and then we're giving them Our advice is to contact your doctor most of our kids is safe not traveled or been around someone who's been outside the country they're going to have a common cold or sinus infection or an ear infection or although things that you have this time of year but if there are any of those things that are even afraid or concerned we're simply referring them back to their doctor please check and let us know and then follow up with those kid and I sure he said are absent rights are normal for this time of year we not had any increase in clinics you know if we've had a few parents who've been concerned because their children might have chronic conditions and so we just again refer them back to their doctors follow their advice and we work with him from there so 6 to 47% and today's absentee rate was 4.35% so you know I mean that's right now but that's what it was today because one of the some of the feedback I got today was no it was it was 4.25% so you know the rumors and things to get circulating out it just makes it worse to be able to know to deal with what we have going already but that's fine right now there are still some flu cases out there but it's really about who and what goes on at the hospital longer and cytosine the same thing it's been a decrease in the flu over the last month really so we have a question know that it's droplet so if you cough into a tissue throw it away and wash your hands coughing to your slave that kind of thing it's not Airborne where I'm just breathing and you're going to walk by me and catch it so it's we know that at least that's what they say they know for now you know they're learning everyday and they're the scientist are studying it and is getting you information it'll come out and change but for now that's what we know McDonald's I'm very impressed with the website I need to make a note that the back and feet thinking about 4 so good job we learned a lot this afternoon from a call I was on that right now if you go in and I need to be tested they are contacting the health department Shelby County and the test is made available on the test is happening and it taking about 36 to 48 hours to get the results so you're tested here but then adults have to go to Nashville to get read that what you say here here in Shelby County if we had a case to the county health department and they would they would lie stop with the other larger Health departments and and make sure the testing happened about development I don't know if you've heard differently but what would they told us today over the next 3 weeks there will be more tests available and there will be more tests on side and LeBonheur is actually working on the ability to roll out more tests at one time so and all the others please I'm sure they don't have the same and bad piston and everything else it just takes time for those things to happen but yes they say within the next two to three weeks we should be able to have quicker results right now 48 hours is about the average but it will be much quicker once all these things have happened two days to get the test back modify they say that you're the most contagious when you're the sickest so when you're running your favor but there are some diseases that you're actually contagious before anyone knows you have anything wrong with you those are the tricky ones but they're saying that if your if your take with a fever and the respiratory illness that's when you're the most contagious so we we stick with the you need to be at home without a fever and no fever reducing medications for a minimum of 24 hours before you return to school some doctors are riding for the flu we had a lot of doctors write a 5-day out regardless and so we were honoring that regardless of whether temperature was keep them out for the five days so that we're not taking chance to know if we match Majestic the time being and they have not from from the epidemiologist at the hospital like not told us that but I I can double-check and ask that question I am happy to do that. reasonable debt for students have been out sick with fevers often as far as absenteeism and not count against of this year because he's had a lot of that those case-by-case right now you know we still have that wonderful chronic absenteeism piece that the state requires puts on there I don't care I don't care if they bust us for being chronically absent I care about you so never deal with that when kids are there okay Crystal head shop in Carbondale today produce these kids are just came home today so there's only been 88 and I hope so the quantity of the repair kit shirt going to be very funny and I was at I know y'all got to call out today that I'm sitting out there by the waist down. The picture sent out for winning the right now as far as around us Shelby County Schools closed I mean Fayette Haywood all those around us Carnival Bartlett Millington all this about they're still open and some of the clothes that they have not been there going on Spring next week, but they are not closed absolutely. but I'm also pretty with human nature have you ever discussed the scenario if Wendy's test tests are more available and all of a sudden you have six students six different School diagnosed as having this virus have you have you talked about that about what you do because people out they already are absolutely so have you discussed what are you doing worst case scenario like it and do you get guidance from the state at all or are they just letting you leave like we have discussed that and that's why the task force is we also have a meeting with mayor and some other people as far as what we got to do but it is not at all out of the question without a doubt we have today's built in our schedule even more if we need them if it becomes an issue across the state but that has to we have to see some of those things happening first and and yes most definitely closed in those situations information from the state department the tdoe can the State Health Department have. They have gone on record as saying we do not recommend the school closed this time but we will also leave it up to individual districts they see something they think requires additional then leave it up to them to do that but the one thing is you know before we make a decision I don't disappear back in the office say hey we're closing day is like often I have to have some input from the health department before we make a move but it is not at all but it could close and the states anything about that we're coming into testing season as well. I have two states in anything about that you know rollin with what's going up there I want to get to know some of the stupid so there's no telling stay so we have not heard any of that State Park thank you ladies for being here. Thank you. Republic Bar. Financial report is as far as closing schools and then the information you gave about the surrounding counties and then the municipalities in Shelby County it went 10 minutes after I listen to you that I haven't took just calm down and say before we already know that they couldn't understand why we weren't Pleasant school but you were so professional and I appreciate the information I know you have other things I know you're surprised but I do not have an amendment tonight I'm proud to say agreement for Crestview Elementary school next Monday Street YouTube approve if you would all those in favor say aye if you look at the first page of our financial report for the 141 general-purpose funds this month the month of February we received ten million four hundred five and $123 that 12.3% of our budget we have received so far 71.5% of our revenue on the expenditure 6610000 steps $36 7.8% and for total expenditures for the eight months at 57.4% so that's where we are on our 140 any questions night 142 Federal project Federal received $511,061 that's 15.4% and I don't think that matters right so let me know I'll tell you what that is next month we have receded we had expended 550-3643. $42 for 49.5% of their expenditure questions on Federal cafeteria receded $544 + 44890 that's 9.5% of their budget and they expended $442,035 7.4% of their budget and then on the one seventy they spent $1,370 this month of February and that was for h u h but it was tied to the Lagoon we have spent 61 for what we've been allotted are there any questions that financially for who has the most prisons Play I Like it Like a month early made her so much thank you for asking, next month we were going to ask you guys what process you wanted us to use if you can come over the moments next month you can tell us what to do we have to have it up the 2021 budget uploaded no later than May one which play sweeter have to bring it to you April which there's no way in the world I can bring it to you in April by the time you guys meeting next month we will not have had one information piece from the State Farm we will not have had an estimate at all they usually come near to Middle to the end of April so I'm not 100% sure what we're going to decide to do doctor, I'm just going to shut up listen to direction that he wants us to go. I just don't have any idea what the piece of the pie will be here we can make it educated guess that doesn't mean it can't be right because we're still losing students so I don't have any idea which ratio is between what we lost last year and what we received in revenue and what wing place this year and last year what was it 4 and 1/2 million that he put in this this year they're putting a 17 million in my head that be because we lost fewer than we lost last time but that doesn't mean any at all. It's not that logical so May 1st local news they're great about to ask a question when workout no equipment truck show appreciate that so it's not perfect do we have a motion to adjourn
