We then kept true to our Charger roots and in 1994 we began our freshman year at Covington High School. We graduated with honors in 1998. We then went on to the University of Memphis for four years where we received our Bachelor's of Science in education. A few years later, we tried our hand at college one last time. We attended Walden University in 2011 and received our Master's in Education- Reading and Literacy. I am so honored to teach in the Tipton County School System for the last 21 years. I am even more blessed to have my best friend by my side along for the ride. Covington is and always has been home, and to have the opportunity to help guide and teach the children in our community is an honor I hold very dear to my heart." ~Chris Anna

Shelvie Rose, III
"
My name is Shelvie Rose, III. Born and raised in Covington, TN where I graduated from Covington High School in 1999. After high school, I attended University of Tennessee Martin and transferred to University of Memphis two years later. I became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. while attending the University of Memphis. I started my coaching career as an Assistant Coach at Hillcrest High School in 2006. In 2009, I became the Head Coach at Hillcrest and had two successful seasons before transferring to Shelby County Schools. In 2010, I became an Assistant Coach at Germantown High School for two years. I took over the Head Coach position at Overton High School in 2019. During this time, the Overton Basketball Team has become the District 16 4A League Champs, City Champs, District Runner Up, Regional Champs, Sub-State Champs, and last but not least, State Champs. This is the first time in 60 years that the team has made it to the state level and the first time in team history to win the State Championship. These accomplishment were made in my third year of coaching, after taking a year off due to the Covid shut-downs. Despite this obstacle, my team and I were able to come back together and preserve all the way to the top.
This year’s team was a newly assembled team as Jordan Frison is currently the only 4-year player on the team that started with me. It is amazing to me how we started at 0-8 in the district during my first year and now, two years later, we are district champs. The team’s first year overall record was 12-13. In my second year was 20-11 and this year, we ended 33-11. Jordan Frison, Xavier Alexander, and Jailen Hardaway were named to the 2023 District All Tournament Team, All Region Tournament Team, and the All-State Tournament Team. Our role players played a significate part of the successful season as several guys had really good games. A few of our players participated in the BCAT All-Star Game. Plus, I get the privilege of coaching a few team members who will be playing in the Jack Jones All Star Game at MSU on Wednesday, March 29th. I am Peacocked Proud of my coaching staff and players for a job well done this season."
