Jackson Almeda placed in the top ten in speaking skills at the HOSA national competition. She prepared a speech on the national HOSA topic, “Defining your purpose." There were over 30 competitors from all over the world. Kozy Hubbard placed second in the Home Health Aide category. Kozy had to take a standardized test over various home health care topics. When she advanced to the second round, she was taken to a local hospital in Orlando and had to perform two tasks typical of a home health aide.

Anna Nason, Katelyn Bricco, and Jamarr Maclin competed against 49 other states including giants such as California and Georgia and international competitors such as China, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. Member Chloe Coughlan also attended the leadership conference. Anna Nason placed 6th in Accounting category. This is a tremendous honor and she worked very hard for this award. Recently, MHS FCCLA went to Anaheim, California to compete in the 2019 NLC. MHS took 11 students for this event. This was one of the largest events FCCLA has had in a while, with 7200 students competing. MHS students represented their school, our county, and their families very well at these events. They brought home 8 gold medals and 3 silver, all our competitors placed in the top 10, 2 groups place 2nd, and one group placed 1st.
