Brighton FFA wins at state FFA Leadership Camp

The Brighton Future Farmers of America Chapter of Tipton County was awarded the Outstanding Chapter Award on June 30, 2017. More than 200 students, advisors and guests attended what was the fifth week of the 2017 Leadership Training Camp offered to Tennessee FFA members.

Ethan Whitley named All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper

After helping his team to the Class AA state tournament last month, Covington High baseball player Ethan Whitley received a nice honor last week. Whitley, a shortstop who will play at UT-Martin next season, was named a second-team Collegiate Baseball Newspaper All-American. He was one of just five players from Tennessee to be recognized.

Atoka Elementary students honored for most AR points

Atoka Elementary administration recently held a special luncheon to celebrate and recognize the students in each grade who earned the most AR points for the entire year. The students were Lucinda Brock, Nathaniel Allen, Emma Wright, Nolan Clement, Aleksandra Pannell and Hudson Porch.

Brighton High School Students win Valuable Prizes

Paige Crothers, Brighton High School Junior, will soon be packing her bags and Myleigh Huffman also of BHS is $75 richer! Why you ask? Paige won 1st place and Myleigh came in 2nd place in the Southwest Tennessee Electric Creative Writing & Scholarship Competition that was presented to the junior class at Brighton High School. Students are selected for Washington Youth Tour by writing a short story titled “Electric Cooperatives–Going Beyond the Wires” that explains how co-ops provide communities with much more than electric power.
