Brighton Elementary is hosting a Power Up Your Reading with S.T.E.A.M. Camp!

This camp offers children opportunities to explore different STEM topics, participate in STEM related field trips, read high-interest books, engage in hands-on activities, and write about their experiences, The goal is to develop and further students’ love for reading over the summer months by providing them with many high-quality books at different levels and for different interests.

The topic for the week of June 3rd-7th is engineering with an emphasis on bridge building and the properties of metal. Students have designed and crafted helicopters, built marshmallow and toothpick bridges, watched an iron craftsman’s demo at the National Ornamental Metal Museum, and engaged in hammering original designs into copper to make bracelets.
