Severe weather can happen at any time and your safety is important to us. Covington elementary and middle schools are both equipped with a tornado safe room designed to provide protection during the life-threatening weather events. The safe room is the cafeteria in both schools. During school hours the safe rooms will be utilized by students and school personnel only. After school hours the tornado safe room may be open to the Covington community public use when a tornado warning has been officially issued by local or state authorities. When available access will be supervised by authorized School Personnel or emergency officials to ensure everyone's safety. The safe room is intended only for emergency Sheltering during a tornado warning. It is not available for early arrival or Extended Stays. While inside the safe room we ask all visitors to remain calm, follow posted rules, and comply with instructions from supervising staff or emergency responders. The expectation is that no food, drinks, including alcoholic beverages, tobacco, or vape products, or weapons will be brought into the safe rooms. No pets other than documented service animals will be allowed. Once in the safe room everyone must remain until an official all clear is given. Availability may be limited due to capacity, maintenance, or safety conditions. Access cannot be guaranteed. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.
