I Prerequisites: None Semesters: 2 Credits: 1 Grade: This course is a beginning study of the French language as both an oral and written language with emphasis on pronunciation and basic grammar. The vocabulary learned in the course stresses commonplace activities (school, home, family, food, clothing, etc.) of the student. Course Name: French II This course is a continuation of French I with emphasis on improving reading comprehension, oral and written skills and learning about French culture. Course Name: French III This course is a continuation of French III with more emphasis on building and reinforcing communication skills, developing reading skills and cultural awareness and building a strong linguistic base. Course Name: Spanish I This course introduces the student to the basic elements of the Spansish language and culture. This course forms the foundation of oral and written skills while utilizing a vocabulary that is of interest to the student. Course Name: Spanish II This course is a continuation of Spanish I with emphasis on improving oral and written skills. It delves into the Hispanic culture and its contributions to the mosaic of American culture. Course Name: Spanish III This course is a continuation of Spanish I and II with emphasis on perfecting oral and written skills, while exploring the historical aspects of the culture. It provides a bridge to college courses since it expands and allows for the attainment of oral proficiency and usage of most grammatical concepts. Course Name: Spanish IV This course is a continuation of Spanish I and II and III with 100% immersion into the Spanish language. It provides a bridge to college courses since it expands and allows for the attainment of oral proficiency and usage of most grammatical concepts.
*9th grade students who are enrolled in CP English I and have scored in the 90%ile Total Language 8th grade TCAP may enroll in a foreign language. |
