Hello! Fall Break is over!! We have so much work ahead of us.  Our next break is not until Thanksgiving Break.  We will be super busy around here.  Here are the SPIs, GLEs and Check for Understanding we will be focusing on this week.

 

SPI 0501.1.2 Identify the correct use of verbs (i.e., action/linking, regular/irregular, agreement, tenses) within context.

GLE 0501.3.1 Write for a variety of purposes and to different audiences.

SPI 0501.4.3 Complete a graphic organizer (e.g., chart, web) organizing material collected from text or technological sources.

0501.8.4 Build vocabulary by reading from a wide variety of texts and literary genres.

0501.8.11 Discuss similarities and differences in events and/or characters, using evidence cited in two or more texts.

SPI 0501.8.8 Identify the effect of sound within context (i.e., onomatopoeia, alliteration,

rhythm, rhyme, repetition).

 

English: We have finished Unit 2.  We are headed full force into Unit 3.  This is our verb unit.  We will be studying action verbs, direct objects and helping verbs this week.  The direct objects and helping verbs may be difficult for them, so please try to work with them if possible. 

 

Reading: We will be reading the story “Inside Out” from our Reading Books.  This story focuses on comparing and contrasting.

 

 

Our spelling words are printed out on a sheet for your child.  These words are onomatopoeia, which are sound effects.  I encourage my students to use onomatopoeia in their writing for adding extra information.

 

Vocabulary is listed on pg 144 in their reading book.  They have to define them on their own.    

Monday: Reading Wk Bk pg 53, 10 sentences with verbs, Define Vocabulary and sentences with spelling words 1-10

Tuesday: Spelling: Words 11-20 sentences, English Wk Bk pg 36/23

Wednesday: Use vocabulary words to write about the life cycle of a caterpillar.

Thursday: Spelling 3 x’s each, study vocabulary and study verbs.

Friday: NONE! HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!
