Crestview Middle School News Flash

Crestview Middle 8th Graders on their field trip to Reelfoot Lake in
Tiptonville, Tennessee.
The students were treated to a nature walk, enjoyed seeing the animals,
and were able to catch a glimpse of the eagles that nested in the park.

 

 

From the Tipton County School District Office:
The Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) dates have changed.
The test will be given April 1st - 9th, with the 8th and 9th as make-up dates.

 

 

Theater in math? That's right. A skit was performed in Mrs. Scott's class on
how to change a percent to a decimal. It was a terrific performance!!!
This was a real-world skit on a business going out of business.
The pseudo business offered 50% off. The performance
emphasized how to convert a percent to a decimal and vice versa.

 

 

CMS administered the ACT Explorer Test last semester
to all 8th grade students. Congratulations to this student for
making a perfect score on this year's ACT Explorer Test.


CMS students assembled in the gym to watch their class
play volleyball for the championship. Mr. Fields announced
scores during the game.

 

 

CMS Students Christmas Dance


Spelling Bee Winners
Congratulations to these students for their outstanding performance
in the school wide spelling bee. These students are pictured with Tipton County
Schools Media Specialist Ms. Patsy Fee and Crestview Middle School's
Principal Mr. James Fields.


Math Night 2009
Crestview held its Math Night 2009 November 12th by introducing the parents to the new
Tennessee State Standards and giving them first hand experience of what their students were being taught
in the classroom and or using tools to reinforce mathematic skills.


 



Dance....Dance...Dance...
Crestview students enjoyed their first school dance of the year.
More dances have been planned.

 

National Junior Honor Society held its annual
induction ceremony in October.
Here are a few candids from the event.

 

 

The Crestview Middle School Band sponsored a Guess & Win Game.
Students donated $1.00 to the band and had a chance to use their critical
thinking and math skills to guess how many pieces of candy were in the jar.
A 6th grader was the lucky winner guessing 459 pieces!! Congratulations !!

 

By scoring an 80 or above on their assignments, these students at Crestview Middle
School had a chance to guess how many pieces of candy were in the jars by
using their math skills and critical thinking. Out of 622 students attending SuccessMaker, they are the proud winners. Congratulations !!


 

Mr. Doug Teague and Dr. Mary Jean Holt of Dyersburg State spoke to Mr. Mooney's 8th Grade Computer Skills class about college awareness.

The student who drew this will have their art work published on a t-shirt that students and teachers can purchase. All funds go to Crestview Middle School.

The music room at Crestview Middle School has become a Home Depot Classroom. The Home Depot has donated everyday items to be used for music-making and cross-curricular applications.
