Team Policies 1.
If
a student-athlete is going to miss practice for any reason, he is expected to
personally inform Coach Driscoll
or Coach Calhoun prior to the missed practice. Unexcused absences and tardiness
to practice are grounds for dismissal from the track team. 2.
If
a student-athlete travels to a track & field meet with the team (or a
coach), he must return to school with the team (or that coach). The only
exception to returning with the team will occur if that student-athlete is
released to one of his parents (or legal guardians) or an immediate family
member. Coach Driscoll or Coach Calhoun needs to know if a parent is leaving
with his/her son. No student-athlete will be allowed to travel home with a
friend or a friend’s parent. 3.
If
a student-athlete’s behavior is unbecoming of a 4.
Track
practice and track meets are school events.
Appropriate behavior expected during school hours is also expected at
school functions. 5.
No
student-athlete, parent, or coach should ever interfere or argue with a meet
official, opposing coach, opposing student-athlete, or opposing
student-athlete’s parent. If a problem arises, see Coach Driscoll or Coach
Calhoun immediately so that they can resolve the situation. 6.
Video
taping and photographing a student-athlete’s performance is not only
encouraged but recommended. However, it is not permissible to view video of a
competition until that said competition is complete. a.
If
possible, please pass on copies of any still pictures or video to Coach
Driscoll. Mr. Yoder is often looking for yearbook pictures, and Coach
Driscoll needs pictures for the track webpage. b.
We
have a very hard time photographing 17 different events at once. 7.
All
injuries requiring medical attention must be directed to Coach Driscoll or
Coach Calhoun as soon as the injury occurs. 8.
It
is the responsibility of each student-athlete to be sure that Coach Driscoll
has the results of his meet performance before he leaves a track & field
meet. 9.
Only
Coach Driscoll or Coach Calhoun will cut a student-athlete from or accept a
student-athlete to the track & field team. a.
Every
student-athlete must have a valid physical form packet on file before he is
allowed to practice. b.
Each
varsity and JV student-athlete is subject to residential and academic
eligibility rules as stated in the TSSAA rulebook. c.
After
the original tryouts, only those student-athletes involved in other in-season
sports or those personally asked to join the team by Coach Driscoll or
Calhoun may be added to the roster. d.
A
student-athlete’s team membership may be terminated at any time for any
reason. |
