From Mrs. Starnes:

I was born in Parsons, Tennessee and lived there until I was eighteen years old.

I moved many times as an adult. I lived in Charleston, South Carolina, St. Charles, Missouri, and Juneau, Alaska before returning to Tennessee.
I began working in the school system in
Waynesboro, Tennessee in 1981. I was a Chapter I reading teacher’s aide for five years. During that time, I began taking courses toward my B.S. degree. I graduated from University of North Alabama in 1987.

I worked as a nutritionist for the health department for a year. I missed working in the school system and returned to school at
Union University to earn my teaching certificate in Family and Consumer Science. I also earned graduate credit at University of Memphis to become certified in Sociology and Psychology.

I have one son, Eric and two granddaughters, Allana and Kylah. I am married to Buddy Starnes, who is a teacher at
Munford High School. We reside in Munford, Tennessee.
