CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

Common Sense Rules:
It is assumed that students have mastered these rules and warnings should not be necessary. These "rules" represent good manners.

1. No eating, drinking, or smoking in the classroom.
2. Treat teachers and fellow students with courtesy and respect.  Cooperate with those in position of authority.
3.  Be on time and prepared. This includes being in your seat when the bell rings.

4. Do NOT disrupt the teaching/learning process. Do not speak when a teacher is talking, when another student is talking, and/or during announcements.

5. Leave all nuisance items outside of the classroom. (Or, they be confiscated and turned over to the office.) Do not write on the desks, tables, walls, etc.

6. Have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE!

7. Use soft voices in the classroom. Raise your hand to ask questions or make a comment.

Bathroom Procedure:
1. Class time is very valuable. Lost time in the classroom can never be recovered. Therefore, bathroom and beverage breaks should be planned in order to prevent "emergencies".
2. Taking time to stop instruction and write a pass interferes with all students being able to learn. Because of this disruption to learning, bathroom passes will not be given. (If you have a medical condition that requires free access to the bathroom, please bring a doctor's note.)

Paperwork:
1. All assignments will be either typed or printed legibly by hand in pencil.
2. Do not scribble out mistakes and do not use white-out. If a mistake is made, draw a single line through the mistake and add your initials. Then continue writing. (Again, professionals in the workplace adhere to this policy for legal requirements.)
3. Keep all work organized in your notebook. (Your notebook is often turned in to be graded and you won't want to part with materials from your other subjects.)

Following the rules helps you protect yourself and prevent others from being injured.

1. Listen carefully and follow directions the first time they are given.
2. Please do not touch supplies/equipment without permission.
3. Do not inhale or taste any substances used in class projects/experiments.
4. Horseplay will not be tolerated. Horseplay is a major cause of damaged equipment and personal injury in the classroom. Any infraction will result in removal from the classroom for that day and possible administrative referral.
