My name is Michelle Young Daniels. I grew up in South Carolina, where I lived for 21 years. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education at Erskine College in Due West, SC, and my Master's degree from Bethel College. I have been married for 16 years to James Daniels, also a teacher at Brighton High, and we have three wonderful children.

I worked as a graphic artist for 11 years before returning to education in 2003. Before BHS, I taught seventh and eighth grade English and reading at both Covington Integrated Arts Academy and Haywood Junior High. In my third year at Brighton High, I am teaching English II and Yearbook.

My hobbies and interests include reading, painting and drawing, reading, outdoor activities, reading, movies, and reading. I love Greek and Roman mythology and Shakespeare, as well as the modern authors Stephen King, John Saul, and Dean Koontz. When not reading, I spend most of my time shuttling my children around to soccer practice, scouts, dance lessons, basketball practice, baseball practice and church functions at First Baptist Church in Covington, where we are members.

I look forward to teaching my students to love reading as much as I do and to get everything out of it that they possibly can. Reading is the future!
