World History

Syllabus

Midkiff

Room 141

World History is REQUIRED for ALL incoming 9th graders here at BHS.  This is not, however, your typical World History course.  Instead of the teacher lecturing every class period, the student is responsible for the materials that are to be completed.  The materials are as follows:  Read Backs, Notes, Tests, Vocabulary, Maps/Graphs/Charts/Etc., Graphic Organizers, and Writing Assignments.  These will correspond with the Content.  Yes, you will read the text that corresponds to this course.  Wednesdays will be different in this class—I will lecture on an interesting subject of choice.  The first couple of weeks of this class will be CRAZY, but you will eventually get the hang of things.  In order for the class to achieve our goals, I have listed below a few rules.

Rules

·        DO NOT come up to my desk unless given permission, or unless it is an EMERGENCY.  You are to use the restroom BEFORE entering my room.

·        RESPECT everyone in this classroom.

·        Bring ALL materials to class.  This includes pen, pencil, paper, homework, binder, and TEXTBOOK. Bring your book and binder EVERY class period—NO EXCEPTIONS!  DO NOT write in any colored pen except for BLUE or BLACK.  Red is reserved for the teacher.

·        If you have a question, raise your hand.   This will be a very busy class, plus it is rude to interrupt others.

·        Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself. This is NOT Elementary School.

Consequences

1.    Warning

2.    Parent/Guardian contacted

3.    Mandatory Tutoring in which you will complete work of my choice (2:45-4:00).  If you do not show, that is an automatic 2 days added (for a total of 3 days mandatory tutoring) as well as a write-up.

4.    Administrative action
