Many seniors are debating whether or not to go to college, take a year off, or get a job after high school. Even though this decision can be difficult, remember there ’s a lot of information out there to help you prepare for life after high school. For instance, if your plans after high school don ’t include college, you can start searching the internet and the classified ads of newspapers for job options. Also, there are a lot of technical schools that offer programs to become dental assistants, massage therapists, pharmacy technicians, et cetera in just a couple of years or fewer. Don ’t forget to consider apprenticeships for jobs like electricians and even politics. So don ’t procrastinate!!! Search the internet for local schools or for job sites.
Taking a year off after graduating from high school can be another option to consider. The year off could be used to save
money for college, improve test scores, or travel. It’s important not to keep putting off your plans after the year is up, though. The longer you ’re out of high school, the harder it gets to go back to college and technical schools.
However, if you are planning on going to college after high school you need to be preparing NOW. Get college applications from the internet or from the guidance counselor, fill out your FAFSA, research scholarships on the internet on web sites like fastweb.com or ask your guidance counselor about local scholarships. Many colleges have rolling admissions, which means you ’ll know your admission status after they process it, or they will let you know in April. Scholarship money and admissions are often first come, first served, so you need to fill out all the necessary paperwork ASAP.
