Wellness Classroom Information

This class is going to teach students about how their body works daily to allow them to function in everyday life. Students will learn how the bones and muscles work together to allow their bodies to move. How the heart and lungs work together to provide the entire body with sufficient blood and oxygen.

Students are studying lessons 8,9 , which covers dealing with emotions, anger, peer pressure, and how to deal with addiction.  Students will have a test over lessons 8, 9 next week.

Physical Wellness Information

A reminder that all students must purchase a Wellness uniform ($20.00) for this class.  Students will begin performing pretests this week.  Students will have their height and weight measured, they will perform a sit-up and push- up test, and they will run a mile for time to determine their cardiovascular endurance.  After the pretests, students will begin their daily workouts.  These workouts will consist of stretching, abdominal exercises, cardiovascular activities, and resistance training.

Students will be graded on dressing out in appropriate clothes each class period, participation in class activities, and physical tests.  Students begin the 9 weeks with a 100 average in dress out and participation.  Each time a student does not dress out or participate in class; they lose 5 points from their grade.

If any students have a medical condition that is affected by physical activity, please let me know ahead of time.  If students have asthma they need to have an inhaler with them during Wellness class.
