About.com Good site.

AllExperts.com "..the oldest & largest free Q&A service on the Internet." Good place to find experts willing to answer students' questions on many, many topics.

Altavista One of the most comprehensive search engines. It used to be a great place to search for graphics or images; however, the image area is presently blocked by the state filter.

BrightPlanet To search the "Deep Web" - the parts of the Internet usually too deep to reach. This engine is not free; you may download and try out, but must purchase to continue to use. Excellent searches, though.

FastSearch (AlltheWeb) Very fast, basic engine. Multimedia link on search keyword with pictures and videos listed separately. Nice feature.

Galaxy The "original searchable Internet directory, whose mission is to provide relevant information by integrating technology with the human touch.

Go.com News, headlines, entertainment directory categories, in addition to basic keyword searching.

Google One of the fastest, easiest search engines on the planet. Great place to go for all searching needs.

HotBot Great basic search place.. Specify images, video, MP3, or java in addition to basic keyword and directory searching.

LookSmart Great directory searching. Sites are reviewed and are generally excellent for classroom use.

Lycos One of the oldest engines. Good, basic searches.

Northern Lights Put in a search phrase, instead of just keywords. Northern Lights is generally accepted as one of the best engines.

WebCrawler What search list would be complete without one of the earliest spiders? Still a good search site...
