Grammar Bytes Fun site full of information and interactivity. This site offers careful explanations, handouts, and interactive exercises to test understanding.

Cool Word of the Day Easy, simple site.
Merriam Webster's Online Language Center Provides online dictionary, thesaurus, word games and other great things for your classroom.
Merriam Webster - Word Games Definition Demolition, Transform Brainstorm, Flip Flop, and Match Maker.
Oxford English Dictionary's Word of the Day Features a daily word with its meaning, pronunciation, spelling, etymology, and date chart.
PlaidLibs Lower level game where children supply the required words (noun, verb ending in -ing) etc. The site will generate a silly story using those words. Could be used to generate discussion about why certain usages are NOT appropriate, since some of the sentences don't always make sense....
Word Central Merriam Webster online dictionary, daily buzzword, word games, and poetry all on this page.
Word Detective This is a great site explaining interesting origins of hundreds of words. Check out the archives for the complete list of words researched so far!
WordPlay Unbelievable site, which lists links to sites having to do with having fun with the English language.
WordScram A timed word puzzle game. Try to make as many words as possible out of a randomly selected group of letters. Encourages quick thinking.
World Wide Words Very interesting site offering quirky information about some of our words, their use, and etymology.

EDSITEment - Literature and Language Arts Outstanding site for finding lesson plans for LA classes. You may narrow your search by using the Subject Navigator on the page. The page also has a tab that takes you to a wonderful list of LA websites, which is also searchable by using the Subject Navigator.
Education.com You'll have to register to access the LA lesson plans here, but it is a free registration.
ERIC This site has been around since the beginning... Great lessons ~easy to find, print, and use.
