Seniors,

Thank you to those that attended the College-Career Night. It was definitely a success !! Hopefully you gathered information that will be useful to you in choosing a college. By visiting eCampusTours.com you can take a virtual tour of many schools and also easily connect with the school’s website. There you can find out any information you might need as well as important phone numbers.

Applications do not MAGICALLY get filled out-you must be responsible. Use the websites that I have given you and be AGGRESSIVE about this.

If you are having a hard time deciding, think about applying to Dyersburg State or Southwest. Take some basic subjects while you explore your possibilities.

If college is not for you, then look at Tennessee Technology Center or ITT Tech.

University of Memphis Emerging Leaders Scholarship - 20 ACT & minimum 2.8GPA- leadership background- interview. Check other Uof M scholarships at www.memphis.edu – scroll down and click on Financial Aid & Scholarships.

NOW IS THE TIME TO BE SENDING APPLICATIONS TO COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES.

Be sure to check with individual schools for their own scholarships – FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIP OFFICE.

Application Checklist

The General Application- Make sure all info is accurate and legible.

Transcripts – Be sure to put your name on the list in the counselor’s office.

Letters of Recommendation – DO NOT give these to the person that must make the recommendation at the last minute. They need ample time to complete. Do your recommendations need to be sealed or sent separately??

Application Essays – Make sure you include your name, social security #, date of birth, contact info, and essay title on each page.

ACT/SAT Scores – If you need to send any additional schools your official score (one that you forgot to list on ACT) you must contact ACT Records Dept. to have it sent.

Signatures – Be sure to sign all forms before mailing. Double check !

Copies – Create a file to keep photocopies of applications and essays sent. You may need to refer to them at a later date.

CAUTIONS –

- Don’t wait so long that you run out of time.(watch DEADLINES)

- Make sure you spell words correctly. Have someone proofread. Also check for grammatical errors.

- If there is something you do not understand – ASK – don’t just skip it.

- One more time DEADLINES!!!!!!!!

SEMESTER EXAMS ARE COMING UP – BE SURE YOU WILL HAVE ALL THE CREDITS YOU NEED BY MAY 15, 2008.
