Cole: Good Morning BHS. I’m Cole Smith.
Zac: I’m Zac Bradley. We’re here to bring you all the latest news from Brighton High School.
Cole: There will be an ACT Math Workshop held on December 2nd and December 9th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in preparation for the December 12th testing date. The cost of the workshop is $40.00 which includes both days. For a registration form, students should see Ms. Melissa Wilson or Dr. Bierdz.
Zac: There will be a Geometry CRAM session for the midterm exam on December 8th and/or December 10th in rooms 200 and 201 after school from 3:00-4:15. Attend one or both sessions. Bring your review practice problems. Study resources will be available to those who attend.
Cole: 2009-10 Yearbook are on sale now. Order online or by turning in an order form from Ms. Jackie Howard in Room 107. If an order is placed online, please tell a Yearbook staff member or Ms. Howard. The order and payment are due December 11th.
Zac: In Senior news, Senior Ads, Friend Ads, and Senior Credits are due November 20th. Students should see a yearbook staff member or Ms. Jackie Howard for more information.
Cole: Caps and Gowns and Senior Invitations can be ordered on December 7th. This will be the last opportunity to order at school. All other orders will have to be mailed.
Zac: Cardinal Council is sponsoring a Turkey Teacher Contest. You can buy feathers for a teacher’s turkey at lunch for 10 cents. You can also take away feathers from teachers for 25 cents. They will be on sale at all lunches until Thanksgiving Break. Make your teacher the 2009 Turkey Teacher. The winning teacher will win a Thanksgiving turkey compliments of Cardinal Council.
Cole: Those interested in ordering a customized PRO quality football jersey must have their order form turned in with total payment no later that November 20th. See Ms. Wilson or Dr. Bierdz.
Zac: Cardinal Council is also selling class pins. Get one for your letterman jacket or buy one for a friend. See any Cardinal Council member, Ms. Wilson or Dr. Bierdz to order one.
Cole: In FFA news, Congratulations to the livestock judging team for receiving 6th place. They were DJ Anderson, Cambridge German, Connor Morgan, Jonathan Williams.
Zac: This is FFA Wildlife Week. Yesterday there was a Duck and Turkey Calling contest. In Duck calling, Jack Ruffing placed 1st, Justin Parsons placed 2nd, an Branxon Yarbro placed 3rd. In Turkey calling, Jack Ruffin placed 1st. Joseph Sonwineski placed 2nd. Hunter Huffman placed 3rd. Congratulations.
Cole: Today is Camo and Boot Day. Thursday will be Big Buck Day. The week will wrap up with Overall Friday and a Wildlife lunch.
Zac: FFA is selling t-shirts and sweatshirts. T-shirts are $8.00. Long sleeve t-shirts are $12.00. Sweatshirts are $15.00. See Ms. Lee in Room 501 to order.
Cole: It is also HOSA week. Today is HOSA Hospitality Day. There will be a tree dedication at Baptist-Tipton. Thursday will be Professional Dress Day. Friday is the HOSA Leadership Extravaganza. All BHS HOSA members will go to Old Brighton High School to unleash their leadership skills.
Zac: The last day to turn in Mu Alpha Theta dues is December 17th. Turn them into Ms. Turnbull or Ariana Maliga.
Cole: Science Club members - If you have been attending meetings and/or filled out a form, you are a member. Dues are $20.00. Meetings are held every other Thursday and will be announced. If it’s not announced there won’t be a meeting. Meetings are mandatory. For questions, go to Room 306.
Zac: Many BHS clubs are giving back to the community during this holiday season. FBLA is collecting food for the Tipton County Junior Auxiliary to make Thanksgiving baskets for needy families. Bring canned food items to Ms. April Howard’s room by Friday.
Cole: SADD is sponsoring Toys for Tots through the Marine Corps League. New toys are being collected.
Zac: National Honor Society is collecting Christmas stockings through December 11th. They will count toward community service projects.
Cole: FCCLA is selling hearts to raise money for the Big Hearts for Little Kids program. All proceeds will go to LeBonheur.
Zac: In sports news, Congratulations to the Freshman Basketball team for defeating Covington in the Jamboree last Thursday 43-19.
Cole: The Varsity Jamboree was Saturday. Both the Girls and Boys teams defeated Halls.
Zac: Congratulations to the Varsity Basketball teams for starting their season with a win. The Girls defeated Westwood 80-43. The Boys defeated them 72-69. They will host Lake County on Thursday and Collierville on Monday. Come out and support your Cardinal Basketball teams.
Cole: The Wrestling team will travel to Cordova on Monday.
Zac: Finally, “Bird’s Eye View” will air around 8:55 this morning.
