Using a Computer
As Part of Your Ninety Minute Block
|

|
If you have only
one computer in your classroom, you might
- Pretest students and allow students
who are already familiar enough with what you are working on to work on
one of the millions of curriculum projects and/or assignments already on
the web and waiting for them.
- Use your computer to review students
who are behind. We can find
remedial work on practically any topic.
- Put your notes in PowerPoint and allow
students who have been absent to work through the presentation(s) to catch
up.
- Create multiple activities dealing
with your study area, and make your computer station one of the areas of
the topic. In student groups,
students will cycle through all stations.
Ex:
Station 1: researching
topic in textbook and completing a question page. (Add own questions or
information also)
Station 2: adding
information from encyclopedias or reference books from the library.
Station 3: finding
additional information from reputable websites. You might provide links to help
searching.
Station 4 (construction
area): making visual, which might be a drawing, model,
bulletin board area, etc.
Station 5 (presentation
area): Students will construct a PowerPoint presentation, with all
students responsible for areas of the presentation to the class.
Allow students who missed CPS
presentation to take test or quiz individually.
- Check out the SmartBoard, projector,
laptop, CPS system, Promax, etc., and have a
great interactive lesson!!
- Construct PowerPoint Jeopardy games
for reviewing before a test (or previewing before teaching). Check out a projector to play the game.
- Reserve the library, where you may
have all students involved on assignments involving technology at one
time.
