Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2009-2010 academic year at Brighton Elementary School! It’s an honor once again to be a part of a school community that enjoys such a dedicated level of parental support. As you know, our continued success involves the efforts of teachers, parents, and students. As a result of working together, Brighton Elementary has made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and is in good standing with the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) for the 2008-2009 school year!!! This is quite an achievement and we are very proud of this honor.
The state of Tennessee is demanding a more rigorous and challenging curriculum for students in grades K-12 starting with this school year. Therefore, the set of standards that students are required to meet are much more difficult. Students will need to know more, be able to do more, and must learn to think at higher levels in order to successfully compete in the changing economic, technological, and information-driven world that is a reality now and will be in the future. So, we need parents to work with their children and teachers to know where your child is academically and to make sure that we are providing the proper resources to move your child forward.
This is a tremendous challenge and it puts a lot of pressure on students and teachers to not only maintain performance levels, but improve achievement within the context of revised standards. But, I believe we are up to the task, and Brighton Elementary will continue to be a beacon of academic excellence in the Tipton County School System. Please help our faculty and staff as we continue to provide our students with the best education possible. Please feel free to contact me at any time if I can be of assistance.
