Q: Can I get paid for attending more than one institute?
A: Teachers who return to teach in Tipton County may receive a stipend for attending two (2) institutes (up to $700).
Q: How many institutes may I attend?
A: Teachers may sign up for more than two but placement in more than two will be made based on the availability of seats in the institute(s). Teachers who return to teach in Tipton County may receive a stipend for attending two (2) institutes (up to $700).
Q: Can I take Technology I, II and or III this summer?
A: Technology builds on the learning from each Academy. Technology I is offered after Technology II. Technology II is designed for teachers who participated in Technology I during July 2007. Teachers who believe that they have advanced skills may request permission to skip Technology II in order to take Technology III this summer. Permission may be granted through the instructor.
Q: Why are there no Highly Qualified Institutes being offered this year? I have been in the past and they were great!
A: The state is not offering those this year. The state reports that 97.4% of Tennessee teachers are now Highly Qualified in their areas.
Q: Is there college credit available?
A: No
Q: Can I earn points toward renewal of my professional license?
A: Yes, but you may not receive a stipend and earn points.
Q: I have not heard if I was accepted to both institutes to which I applied, why not?
A: There is a notice at the bottom of all the emails that states that email notifications have only been sent on those institutes that are full at this time. Applicants for institutes that are still open will receive notification by May 1 per the application.
