Crestview Middle School Crestview Middle School is committed to providing quality education to every student. As part of this goal, we wish to establish meaningful partnerships with our students' parents and families. We feel that all parties involved experience positive results if school and home work together for the benefit of the child. To achieve these goals, we advocate, promote, and wish to provide the following: 1. All parents will be invited to an annual public meeting held during the first few weeks of school each year. This plan, along with legal requirements, No Child Left Behind, and parents' rights will be explained and questions answered. 2. We will hold an "Open House" for all parents during which they can tour the school, meet the teachers, view the curriculum, and walk through their child's daily schedule. 3. We will hold Parent Teacher Conferences in the fall and again in the spring after regular school hours so parents can have opportunities to meet with their child's teachers. 4. We will have a PTO so parents can get involved in school support. 5. We will give all parents the opportunity to provide in-put for future program development by sending home surveys, questionnaires, and assessments. 6. Parents, teachers, students, and the principal will sign a Parent-School-Student Compact. 7. All resources can and will be used to provide training activities to teachers, parents, and students including School-wide Programs, Parent Involvement, Family Resource Centers, Human Services, Head Start, etc... 8. Curriculum guides and information about the school curriculum will be discussed at open house and will be kept in the library for public viewing. 9. Teachers will be available through email, parent-teacher conferences, and phone and/or private conferences so that parents can share experiences, offer suggestions, form meaningful partnerships, and participate in the education of their children. 10. Teachers will answer parent's questions within two school days either in written or verbal form. 11. The school will provide opportunities for parents to learn about areas such as: The State content standards and student performance standards, parental involvement needs, how to assist their student at home and monitor progress, and the availability of our Adult Basic Education Program. 12. Using newsletters, newspaper articles, our school website, etc... we will encourage teacher, parent, student communication in a timely and updated manner. 13. We will hold parent workshops, training sessions, and meetings at flexible times. 14. Parents will be provided with opportunities to submit differing views and offer suggestions if the program plan does not meet their expectations. |
